Helliwell Pictures Launches The Hip Pocket Ease

Helliwell Pictures has developed a mobile application that facilitates interaction between charity groups conducting humanitarian missions and their donors.

2011-04-03
VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, April 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) Helliwell Pictures announced today the launch of its iOS and Android compatible mobile application that facilitates interaction between charity groups and their donors.

While shooting a film in Yushu, Tibet, Helliwell PicturesâEUR filmmaker Michael Oved Dayan observed enormous need for medical attention among the nomadic people of Eastern Tibet. Dayan accompanied a volunteer medical team stupefied by this overwhelming need and their own lack of resources. Because the team lacked crucial resources, their own stress levels were elevated. Making the decision to treat one case over another, with dire consequences for many patients, was a daily endeavor. The teamâEUR s humanitarian mission ultimately came to its end, not because all demand had been met and all patients had been cured, because they simply ran out of money.

Observing this medical need and the need of humanitarian missions to find a way to access more resources, Dayan was inspired to create Hip Pocket Ease. The Hip Pocket Ease is a platform that connects charity groups operating humanitarian missions with donors. The application supports charity groups, enabling them to provide a blurb introducing their organization and their specific humanitarian aid efforts, to make a specific request (ie 2000 pairs of reading glasses, or 20 wheelchairs, a specific sum of money), to arrange with donors the sending and receiving of donations, and to keep donors updated and engaged.

Hip Pocket Ease lets donors search for an organization to make a donation (can search by organization name, location, or requested donation), contact the charity group to pledge a donation (equipment, medicine, money, or oneâEUR s own time and effort) and determine how to follow up with that donation, follow the organization or team while dispensing the donation in the filed (different members can post blurbs, photos and videos as they have the experience), and follow the organization in the future.

Hip Pocket Ease enables donors to see where their gifts are dispersed and to âEURœmeetâEUR the recipients, even if this exchange happens virtually. The idea behind Hip Pocket Ease is to remove the burden of gathering donations from the doctors running humanitarian medical missions so they can focus on what they do best, practicing medicine.

Helliwell Pictures is an award-winning documentary film production company creating insightful and engaging content that entertains and inspires. Helliwell Pictures produces feature-length biopic films, corporate promotions and training videos, as well as political information pieces for cinema, television, Internet, and the boardroom.

NOTE: Helliwell Pictures is not involved in the transfer of goods or money in any way whatsoever. All donation transfer is done via secured means offered by the established charitable organizations via their own website.
