CHICAGO, IL, April 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jill Salzman is growing her third business the old-fashioned way. She constantly connects with people and generates word-of-mouth buzz. But she does it all online.
By utilizing only social media, she's built a new network of entrepreneurs worldwide - in a very short amount of time.
The Founding Moms is a collective of meetups for mom entrepreneurs. Currently in 26 cities including Canada and Australia, Salzman launched the idea a year ago in the hopes of meeting a few local women who had their own business and also happened to have kids. That few turned into 1,500 members.
Each city's Founding Moms' Exchange meets monthly in a local coffee shop. A local Host runs each meeting by facilitating discussions to educate fellow members and by inviting business speakers to share their expertise. Each Exchange has its own Meetup page, and discussion is lively on its Facebook Fan page and Twitter feed.
The Founding Moms' Member Directory just launched, and for $8.99 per month Mom Entrepreneurs can feature themselves and their business, search for business needs and offer discounts for fellow members. It is free to attend a Founding Moms' Exchange, and there are suggested dues that range from $5-10 depending on the city.
Why are Founding Moms' Exchanges so successful?
Because unlike other formal, expensive or leads-only networking organizations, Momtrepreneur Exchanges are a safe haven from the usual promotional blur. Women simply compare notes, gripe and cheer one another in their endeavors.
Sponsors are already vying for the opportunity to reach these women face-to-face. Dove, SonsiLiving and SitterCity are among the major brands clever enough to court mom entrepreneurs.
For more information, to find a Founding Moms' Exchange near you or to sponsor this group, please visit http://www.FoundingMoms.com.
