Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Survivors of the Extreme Now Open in Paris

Find out how animals and plants survive in extreme conditions at an exhibition in the French capital.

2011-04-09
PARIS, FRANCE, April 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) Palais de la Decouverte in Paris is hosting the Survivors of the Extreme installation, which explores how certain plants and animals live in hugely inhospitable conditions.

Visitors can find out how the camel can swallow 200 litres of water in three minutes, then survive for two weeks without another drop.

The seal, gerbil and polar bear are just some of the other subjects of the exhibition's entertaining scientific enquiries.

To add to this, people can also get involved in a number of experiments to see how humans would fare when faced with extreme conditions.

Individuals can test their lung capacity, find out how to navigate in the dark and learn how to walk barefoot on hot sand.

The installation, which costs EUR7 (GBP6.10) to visit, was originally put together by a group of scientific organisations in Belgium, Holland and Denmark.

It is available to view until August 28th 2011. Opening hours are from 09:30 to 18:00 local time between Tuesday and Saturday. This changes to 10:00 to 19:00 on Sunday.
