Lashologist Certification Cuts Interviewing Time: Finding the Most Qualified Staff for Salon and Spa Industry is Getting Easier

A Certified Lashologist credential can help salon owners and employees cut interviewing time by up to 75%, allowing salons to hire better personnel, even if they're not hiring a Lashologist.

2011-04-09
WEST PALM BEACH, CA, April 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) Hiring good salon staff is one of the hardest things to do, but is getting easier as salons need to hire more and more qualified Lashologists. By referencing an applicants Lashologist certificate from the Lashologist Council of America, candidates can help salon owners more easily assess ability and help employers cut down on interviewing time by up to seventy-five percent (75%). "The recognition that comes with being a Certified Lashologist goes a very long way towards proving a skillset and aiding employers in avoiding the frustration and aggravation of interviewing numerous un-qualified, un-trained, un-proven, un-candidates. Oftentimes, a Certified Lashologist will immediately be put to the front of the line." says Executive Director of Lashologist Council of America, Ellie Malmin.

Lashologist Council of America is the only authority entitled to grant a Certified Lashologist credential. These certified guides, course supplements and exams are part of the Lashologist Council of America Certification program that provides a standardized approach to handling effective education to the industry; promoting a safe, secure, and reliable experience and interaction for the client.

Lashology is broadly defined as the application, procedures, products and people involved in the various lashes, cosmetics, mascaras, surrounding the eyes. The term includes many varied procedures including(eyelash shampooing, eyelash styling semi permanent mascara. eyelash perming, eyelash tinting and eyelash straightening eye brow tinting eye brow straightening, extensions and faux eye lashes.

"For the salon owner or manager, it takes time, and a lot more than just personality or appearance to properly assess the ability of an applicant. So, how can an employer tell if a candidate is really up to the job? How can the interviewer cut through the clutter of numerous resumes? The Lashologist Council of America, the non-profit professional trade group for the eye cosmetics profession has been helping both candidates and employers."

The conventional interview process is often limited in quantifying a candidate's true experience, training, or knowledge of best practice or safe techniques. This process may offer some advantage hiring entry level or an apprentice, but often fall short when trying to evaluate more experienced staff, those with even a few years in the industry. The Lashologsist Council of America Certification process does not have that limitation, and can be used to pre-evaluate a broad skillset in many areas of competency including procedures, safety and customer service, even sales aptitude, and much more. "Clearly, a member of the Lashologist Council, or a someone that has gone the extra mile to earn a certification demonstrates an initiatve and seriousness that employers reward with higher pay and more responsibility. These are tomorrow's leaders"

Similar certification programs are common in other fields such as technology, medical, the financial fields where assessing a narrowly defined and dynamic skillset is very important both to client and employer. That the Lashologist Council of America creates this certification program is assuring not only those smart employers, but clientele confident in the knowledge they are working an individual and a salon that recognizes the value in offering the highest level of professionalism.
