Dogtopia Raises Major Funds to Support Local Charities with 'Lucky Dogs Give Back'

National Dog Daycare Franchise Makes Big Impact in Communities

NORTHBROOK, IL, April 09, 2011

Dogtopia, a national upscale dog day care franchise, raised a record amount of donations during St. Patrick's Day week to support local charities with their Lucky Dogs Give Back Fundraiser.

Throughout the week of March 14, Dogtopia locations nationwide donated $1 for every dog in daycare to a local charity of choice. In total, the Dogtopia system and customers donated $6,400 for local charities, surpassing their goal by more than $1,400. Some of the local charities included Hounds4Heroes, a non-profit organizations that provide pets to military veterans, Soles4Souls, a shoe charity that donates shoes to adults and children in need and DOGS-East Search & Rescue, a non-profit organization that specializes in training search dogs to find missing people as well as those missing due to natural disasters.

"Investing locally in our communities is incredibly important to us," said Amy Nichols, CEO and Founder of Dogtopia. "The funds raised during the Lucky Dogs Give Back campaign will benefit each of the communities that Dogtopia serves."

Dogtopia has a passionate culture committed to giving back, where Nichols has created a permanent non-profit arm of Dogtopia, K-9 Support, Inc., to help working dogs, such as military dogs, rescue dogs and Seeing Eye dogs. The annual K-9 Support Dog Wash events raise funds to send care packages to K-9 Handlers and their working dogs in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as support working police dogs in the U.S. Since starting K-9 Support in 2005, Dogtopia has raised more than $45,000 for the cause.
