BOULDER, CO, April 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) ASD Inc. announces today the commercial availability of the QualitySpec 7000, a unique near-infrared spectroscopic analyzer designed for continuous measurement of solids and blended materials as they are transported on a conveyor belt. This powerful, precise instrument is uniquely suited for a range of industries including forest products, mining and food processing.
The QualitySpec 7000 yields more information by rapidly measuring multiple constituents simultaneously. Materials measured by the QualitySpec 7000 include crushed ore or wood chips while being transported on a conveyor belt. This improved visibility to process data ultimately enables plant operators to make real-time decisions about the raw materials or a process as they change, rather than waiting for off-line lab results.
"Instead of pulling samples, taking them off-line to the lab, then making a decision based on stale sample data, analysis is performed instantly and on multiple samples, giving you more accurate, representative material analysis as it moves through the process," said ASD Chief Technology Officer Brian Curtiss. "This real-time data provides process engineers better control over their production operations."
At the core of the QualitySpec 7000 is the Goetz spectrometer that uses a non-hazardous quartz-halogen light source and leverages proprietary spectrometer technology which spans the visible and near-infrared spectral range. Using a high-speed optical Ethernet connection, the OPC server output provides an unlimited number of measurements.
To gain the full benefit of the QualitySpec 7000, ASD's SummitCAL Solutions Team provides the necessary modeling to fully calibrate the analyzer for the application. SummitCAL provides the multivariate calibration modeling expertise necessary to transform sample data into actionable process information.
Key Benefits of the QualitySpec 7000:
• Fast, reliable process analysis
• Non-contact, non-destructive measurement
• Multiple constituent measurements from a single scan
• Measures real-time as process is in motion
• Safe, simple light source — no hazardous radiation, neutron generators or x-rays
