- Oct. 29 & 30, Haunted Hocking Investigation, Ash Cave: Visitors can join with the Haunted Hocking Investigative (HHIT) team as they investigate the unexplained. Known for its spectacular waterfall that cascades over a historic recess cave, Ash Cave is also rumored to be the site of paranormal activity. A lady dressed in 1920s attire has been seen peeking out from behind trees and following groups before disappearing into the night. This and other apparitions have caused the HHIT team to investigate using infra red photography, Geiger counters, divining rods, compasses, crystals and other devises employed by ghost hunters. Visitors will hear the stories and learn about how science can be used to either prove -- or debunk -- the ghostly rumors.

- Oct. 29 & 30, Halloween Campout, Old Man's Cave Campground: Junior campers can try their hand at pumpkin decorating, enjoy a hayride, watch a fun family spooky movie, trick or treat and compete in a campsite decorating contest at Old Man's Cave Campground. Registered campers and cabin guests are eligible to participate at no charge beyond regular camping and cabin fees.

- Sept. 22 or 23; Oct. 22 or 23, Full Moon Paddle, Lake Hope: A full moon sets the scene for the perfect Halloween experience. Visitors will experience the extraordinary as moonlight gracefully dances on Lake Hope during a guided moonlight kayak trip with Touch the Earth Adventures. Just $20 with your own kayak, $40 if a rental kayak is needed.

- Oct. 23, Boo Train, Hocking Valley Scenic Railway: Families can climb aboard this special ride for tricks and treats. Kids will meet some funny and slightly spooky characters as they ride the decorated cars and listen to the sounds of the night. Everyone receives treats and is encouraged to dress up as their favorite character for the Halloween costume contest. Afterward, kids get to select a free pumpkin from the neighboring pumpkin patch.

- Oct. 29, Halloween on the Square, Historic Nelsonville Square Arts District: This unique Final Friday in Nelsonville challenges guests to get creative with their costumes before a parade and contest. Prizes, art openings, shows and decorated venues in light up the Nelsonville Historic Square from 6 -10 p.m.
