Arnaldo Cohen to Perform Liszt: Philadelphia Chamber Music Society
2011-04-27
PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS) is excited to announce pianist, Arnaldo Cohen, will perform as part of its Chamber Music Benefit Series Concerts. Taking place on Wednesday, October 12th, at 7:30pm, the concert will celebrate the music of Liszt as part of his 200th birthday year.

Known for his musical authority and stylish virtuosity, Brazilian-born Cohen established a special bond with PCMS audiences after a bravura performance of Liszt's B Minor Sonata at a sold-out 2008 concert. To celebrate Liszt's 200th Birthday, Cohen will perform an all-Liszt recital.

Gramophone describes Cohen's recording of Liszt: "This is Liszt-playing on a grand scale, putting Cohen among the greats...Cohen's playing blazes with the risk-taking, spontaneity and urgency of a live concert...adds the element of white-hot improvisation...mingles narrative and textual clarity with a musical maturity and heady virtuosity in the Richter class."

The concert will be held at the American Philosophical Society with tickets at an affordable $50.00.

The Chamber Music Series Benefit Concert shines the spotlight on established and emerging artists. PCMS is thrilled to welcome artists who have worked with them since their inception. Performing in two other benefit concerts are violinist, Pamela Frank, with the Guarneri Quartet and string trio, Time for Three.

WHO: Arnaldo Cohen

WHEN: October 12th, 2011 at 7:30pm.

WHERE: American Philosophical Society, 427 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia

COST: $50.00
