HOBBS, NM, April 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) Kent & Beckey Waldrop owners of Miller Waldrop Furniture were brainstorming about their advertising plans for their upcoming 59th anniversary of their store. They had just recently attended a week long training at the Wizard Academy in Austin Texas and wanted to create some buzz on Facebook about their business.
As they were thinking this through the sore subject of the many dead inventory items that were not selling came up. Then the light bulb came on! Hey Beckey said why don't we promote our "dogs" on Facebook at a ridiculous price and see what kind of response we get? Great idea, Kent commented, and we'll sell them at $59 to promote the idea of a 59th birthday celebration. The first day we posted a leather Lazboy chair valued at $899 for only $59.97. There was unbelief at first but it did sell. The next day we had people calling the store and posting on Facebook asking if this was a joke. The next several days they had customer in the parking lot with their smart phones waiting for the next $59 dollar "Item of the Day". Items began selling within minutes of the posting. We posted sofas, chairs, consoles, barstools, pictures, plants, etc. said Beckey and the "buzz" it created was amazing. And then the "Free" publicity they received on Facebook from our Facebook friends was amazing! Word spread fast and customers where friending their Facebook page by the dozens each day. And those who got the great $59 deals would post on their Facebook page what a wonderful deal they received at Miller Waldrop Furniture and encouraged their friends to watch for the "Item of the Day" on Miller Waldrop's Facebook page.
So if you were to ask Kent and Beckey if they created that buzz about their store on Facebook they would enthusiastically tell you YES!
