GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND, April 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) Ceri Auckland Davies is drawn to the wild and lonely places of his native Wales, especially to the coast. As an exponent of the egg tempera tradition of painting, his paintings display a distinctive deep colour-rich finish which helps to capture the emotion and essence of a place or scene - elements, colour, essence and composition combining effortlessly in unforgettable images of the landscape, coast and, especially, the sea.
Rugged and placid scenes of the Welsh Coast - Huntsman's Leap, Marloes Sands - captivating sunsets over the sea - at Llangrannog and Lleyn - and other natural effects - a rain storm (Approaching Storm, Cefn Sidan), subtle light (Shadows, St Bride's) or the movement of water (Wave, Skrinkle Haven) - all feature in this exciting new range of limited edition, fine art Giclee prints.
Ceri Auckland Davies (b. 1951) studied art at the Dyfed and Newport Colleges of Art, graduating in 1973; he taught in schools and adult colleges until 2000, since when he has been painting full time. Ceri is a Member of the Society of Tempera Painters. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally since 1993; and his work is held in public and private collections, including the Welsh Assembly.
