DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, April 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) Dusseldorf visitors will have a chance to see Greek music star Haris Alexiou live in concert this summer.
The singer is due to appear at the German city's Philipshalle venue on Sunday June 5th as part of her 2011 European tour.
Now 60, Alexiou has been performing regularly since the early 1970s and is one of the most commercially successful recording artists to have emerged from Greece.
Born in Thebes, the singer is known for her warm, expressive vocals and charismatic stage presence.
She has released more than 30 albums and taken Greek music to audiences around the world with her performances.
Alexiou reached a global audience when she sang at the closing ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and frequently appears in front of huge crowds in her native country.
Her most recent record, Love Will Find You Wherever You May Be, features songs composed by the artist herself and music by the Oscar-winning Argentinian composer Gustavo Santaolalla.
According to Alexiou's official website, the LP was intended to represent a series of "musical pictures of her life".
"As songs succeed each other, one gets the impression of going through her life photo album," it explained.
Tickets to see Alexiou perform in Dusseldorf are available online, with prices ranging from EUR27 to EUR57 (GBP24 and GBP50.70). Doors at the venue will open at 20:00 local time.
