SPRINGFIELD, NJ, April 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) Citrin Cooperman, a leading regional accounting and business consulting firm, was ranked No. 7 among large companies by NJBiz magazine in its "Best Places to Work in New Jersey" competition, the firm announced today.
Citrin Cooperman, one of 41 firms honored in the large company category (250 + employees), and one of 70 firms honored overall, was the highest ranking accounting firm among large companies.
Last year, the firm was ranked No. 12 in the small/medium company category, and has been honored by NJBiz for three consecutive years.
The NJBiz survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in New Jersey, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. In gaining the honor, Citrin Cooperman's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics were evaluated and its employees were surveyed to measure the employee experience.
Among the many benefits at Citrin Cooperman are: a four-week paid sabbatical after six years employment, advanced leadership programs, cash bonuses for those that earn their CPA designation, a minimum of 100 hours of CPE training annually and bonuses based on accomplishments. The firm also has a formal maternity-leave policy, and curtailed working hours on days before major holidays.
The firm offers Citrin Cooperman University, a highly acclaimed continuing education program for young accountants; employees are provided mentors to help them advance in the firm; and an International Work Exchange Program, offering professionals the opportunity to gain experience abroad, working with Moore Stephens affiliates.
"We are honored to be among the best places to work for the third straight year, but take great pride in our ranking as the top accounting firm in our category," said Ed Horton, co-managing partner of the firm's New Jersey office with Alex Serrano. "Our high ranking is a result of programs we've implemented and fine-tuned with feedback from our staff. Creating an environment in which they can grow and continue to be a valued part of the Citrin Cooperman family is a responsibility that management takes seriously."
Companies from across the state were evaluated through a two-part process. Part one included a review of each company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
Citrin Cooperman has grown from an $18 million firm in 2000 to a more than a $100 million operation in 2010 as it has been able to recruit and retain top talent in the accounting industry. The firm was also recently ranked among the best places to work by Crain's New York Business magazine and Accounting Today, a leading industry magazine.
