1,001 Online Dates Releases Its Second Episode

The much buzzed about comedy web series has just released its unanimously praised second installment.

NEW YORK, NY, April 30, 2011

Episode 02 of the much buzzed about new comedy web series 1,001 Online Dates (http://www.1001onlinedates.com/series.html) was recently released. This unique webisode is an irreverently humorous and vaguely nightmarish blend of the work of Ricky Gervais, '70s horror movies, the movies of David Lynch and the groundbreaking British TV series Jam.

"...don't be fooled by its chosen venue," wrote Slant Magazine's Matt Maul in an article published on Monday. "1,001 Online Dates is no cheaply made, amateurish YouTube effort. Outings one and two are polished productions that play out as 'date procedurals' in the form of an appealing mashup between the dialogue-driven In Treatment and the madcap Love, American Style."

The series follows the misadventures of three friends named Thad (Mark L. Feinsod), Roger (Evan Leed) and Wilhelmina (Stephanie Rockwell) as they use dating sites and go out with the bizarre people they meet online. Episode 02 follows Roger in the aftermath of having been attacked by his ex-girlfriend's Rottweiler while breaking into her apartment to steal some embarrassing photos she took of him. As Wilhelmina chastises Roger for his stupidity while bandaging the dog bite on his backside, Thad scours the Internet to learn more about Jen (Kristin Patton), a woman Roger recently met online. Roger meets Jen for a date at Prospect Park the next day, only to discover that her overachieving personality and powerful desire to right the wrongs of the world are completely at odds with his lazy, self-centered nature. He's willing to say anything to get her to like him, to the point where truth and fiction become blurred in his mind and to the viewer as well.

1,001 Online Dates has garnered an incredible amount of buzz since the trailer was released in early December, and episode 01 was posted in late January. The show's comedic sensibilities and unique look were the subject of unanimous praise. The first installment followed the recently dumped Thad as he went out to dinner with Sandra (Sidse Ploug Soerensen), a photographer's assistant with several intriguing yet off-putting surprises up her sleeve.

"The first episode of 1,001 Online Dates is out, and it's as gleefully awkward as we had hoped," wrote Gawker.tv's Ajay Mehta. "The episode has a relatable, improvised feel and anyone who has surfed relationship sites will see the inherent dark humor. The production values are surprisingly good, given what most expect from an online-only stint. We're looking forward to more tales of NYC dating horror stories from these guys in the months to come."

Mark L. Feinsod and Evan Leed, the writing/producing/directing team behind the independently-produced show, are planning to roll out the seven episode run of the series during the course of the year, and expect to release a new one in May. The third installment follows Wilhelmina as she learns that what's on the outside matters just as much as what's on the inside.

Often shocking and always hilarious, 1,001 Online Dates is a fresh new comedy show about life and love in New York City. For more information, please visit http://www.1001onlinedates.com.
