RALEIGH, NC, April 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) Band Together NC, a Triangle-based nonprofit that uses music to raise funds and awareness for local charities, has announced the expanded lineup for its big all-ages concert to be held rain or shine May 7 outside Lincoln Theatre in downtown Raleigh. Headliner Third Eye Blind will be joined by local and regional favorites Dillon Fence, U.S. Royalty and Lonnie Walker. Ticket holders can also enjoy a late-night show inside Lincoln Theatre featuring I Was Totally Destroying It.
Tickets are just $20 in advance, or $25 on day of show, for this five-band event to be held at 126 E. Cabarrus Street. VIP tickets for ages 21 and up - including food, drink, silent auction and platform-stage views from a special roped-off area - are available for $150. Tickets can be purchased through http://www.bandtogethernc.org. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with performances beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at approximately 1 a.m.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit Alliance Medical Ministry, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable healthcare to the working uninsured in Wake County. In 2010, they provided care to more than 8,000 established patients.
"We're in the final push to reach our goal of raising more than $500,000 for Alliance Medical Ministry, and are very excited to fill our lineup with talented artists who will come together to help us reach that goal," said Danny Rosin, Band Together president and co-founder. "There is a very real possibility of selling out, so I encourage anyone interested to purchase tickets now."
The Artists
Third Eye Blind has sold more than 8 million albums. Best known for the singles "Semi-Charmed Life," "How's It Going to Be," "Graduate," "Jumper" and "Never Let You Go," to date the band has released four albums, with rumors of another release later this year.
Indie music favorite Dillon Fence released three albums and several EPs for Mammoth Records in the early 90s and frequently shared the stage with good friends Hootie and the Blowfish. Band members Greg Humphreys and Andy Ware later founded Hobex but still occasionally perform as Dillon Fence.
U.S. Royalty formed in Washington, D.C., in 2008 and has been featured in Esquire, SPIN, The New York Times, The Washington Post and NPR. Their high-energy rock and roll songs and volatile performances have won fans at SXSW, NXNE, Art Basel and CMJ.
Lonnie Walker, winner of Band Together's "Last Band Standing" competition in April, serves up a blend of rootsy americana and punk music that draws form such diverse influences as Tom Waits and the Pixies. Originally a one-man band, Lonnie Walker has expanded into a full group of friends bound by their passion for music and visual art, and amassing quite a regional following along the way.
I Was Totally Destroying It will continue the party inside Lincoln Theatre after the main-stage performances conclude. This Chapel Hill outfit combines 80s pop rock with 90s indie rock that leaves listeners contemplating complex themes under upbeat melodies. Non-ticket holders can see this late-night performance for only $5.
