New Beach Boys Album to Benefit Red Cross Relief Effort in Japan

Al Jardine of the beach Boys has called out to his reunite with his band mates to release a special edition album to add to the relief effort in Japan. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross to benefit the country after the devastation.

2011-05-01
DOYLESTOWN, PA, May 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) In response to the devastation in Japan, with earthquakes, tsunamis, and a potential nuclear disaster hanging over everyone's heads, Al Jardine of the Beach Boys has called together some of his famous old friends to put together a benefit album to aid those affected by the terrible events that took place across the nation.

Joining Jardine on the album are Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston who are all original members of the Beach Boys and are eager to help out and do their part for the cause.

For the first time ever, 'Don't Fight the Sea' and 'Friends' will be released on a 7" vinyl single. The first one thousand copies will be released on a limited edition white record with a red label, to pay homage to the Japanese flag, while all the copies that follow will be released on standard black vinyl. The first 90 albums are signed by all four of the band members.

'Don't Fight the Sea' is a track from the band's new album, A Postcard from California, while 'Friends' is a previously unreleased, a capella recording from 1968.

"We felt that the song had a nice basic message of friendship," Jardine said. "I also like the idea of that song, because the vocals are a bit underappreciated. So this release was a perfect place to showcase the idea of harmony and friendship. Everybody is behind it 100%, that's the nice part. It's a total group effort, and we'll be working more together like this as we approach our 50th anniversary. It's very encouraging...and we're making plans."

Brian Wilson added, "The message of the song is simple; we've been friends for so many years. It works on many levels within the band and our relationship with Japan."

100% of the proceeds of this album will go to the Red Cross and be used toward relief efforts in Japan after the recent multiple disasters that they've fallen victim to.

SoundStage Direct, located in Doylestown, PA is proud to be the exclusive online distributor, and has the album available to order now on their website for just $15.
