MaidSafe Foundation announces charity launch event in Troon

AYRSHIRE, SCOTLAND, May 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) All interested local residents of all ages are cordially invited to The MaidSafe Foundation launch event on Thursday 5 May from 6-8pm at 72 Templehill in Troon, Ayrshire.

The evening centres around a complimentary BBQ and entry to this informal event is free.

The event will start with a short presentation on the Foundation and the plans for a Fab Lab in Troon. A mobile Fab Lab from the Netherlands will be at the event so that all guests can view the facilities and gauge the benefits this can provide to the local community.

Children are very welcome and there will be plenty of activities (bouncy castle, face painting, science games) to keep them occupied.

What is a Fab Lab?

A Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) is a small-scale workshop anyone can use to design and make pretty much anything.

About the Maidsafe Foundation

Established at the start of 2011, Maidsafe Foundation is a registered Scottish Charity: SC042030.

Over the next few years, our aim will be to develop a variety of services that will empower people and help them to be able to contribute towards creating a fairer, healthier and more balanced world.

We will work with schools, universities, innovators, artists, businesses but especially those around the globe who could use a helping hand. In the UK we will have a special focus on helping to create opportunities for young and disadvantaged people, enabling them to actively use their talents and potential to benefit their communities and society.
