The SMART Board is an interactive, computerized white board that is connected to the teacher's computer and all that resides within it. It can be operated from the computer, or by touching the board itself with a fingertip or wand.

CALGARY, AB, CANADA, May 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) The SMART Board is an interactive, computerized white board that is connected to the teacher's computer and all that resides within it. It can be operated from the computer, or by touching the board itself with a fingertip or wand.

SMART Board are changing the way teachers do their jobs and widely diversifying the learning environment for their students.
SMART Board offer solutions that old technologies don't offer, such as: audio, visuals, the ability to write non-destructive notes on slides, videos to give a visual aid of the current and some of the fun interactive stuff. It's just something you can't get from a white board or an overhead projector.

Canadian teachers nationwide use SMART Board provided by Sharps Audio Visual every day, whether it's creating a virtual field trip through Paris for a world cultures class, illustrating the movement of battles for a history class, or even just for vocabulary lessons and class notes.

It has allowed teachers to become as interactive with the students, and engage them in the course material as much as possible. Students who know how to use the SMART Board gain a sense of ownership. It helps students to pay attention, and it acts as a visualization tool for the visual learners.
In the event that a substitute teacher is in class, a teacher can save the day's lessons to the SMART Board and leave directions for the substitute or have a student help, making it possible for the teacher to maintain a presence in the classroom even while away.

Teachers now have the technology to draw lines and parabolas with their fingertips. In an advanced math class, displaying a graphing calculator on the screen that's identical to those that the students' are using, and walk them through the problem, inserting the variables as students follow along. In the past, a teacher would have had to walk to each student and help them individually.
SMART Boards create efficiency in the class, with one of the best features is the ability to take students to a website as a class, rather than having them in a computer lab situation where 20 students quickly find themselves in 20 different places.

Students can log in, and a quiz can easily be published on the SMART Board . Students can then type in their answers, and it can send the results instantly to the teacher.

The total cost of a SMART Board is minimal, leading teachers and administrators to believe the technology is a way to fulfill their responsibility to their students, and offer students new creative and fun ways to learn.
