Hollister Creative Publication For Family Planning Council A Finalist In National Educational Publishing Competition

The Association of Educational Publishers named a guide urging parents to talk to teens about reproductive health produced by Hollister Creative for Family Planning Council a finalist in its 2011 Distinguished Achievement Awards competition.

2011-05-05
WYNNEWOOD, PA, May 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) "Parent Probe," a visually compelling and informative guide urging parents to talk to teens about sex, relationships and reproductive health, is a finalist in the 2011 Distinguished Achievement Awards competition of the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP).

The Family Planning Council commissioned Hollister Creative to produce "Parent Probe." Hollister Creative, a Philadelphia area marketing communications firm, has written and designed dozens of print and web projects for the Council since 1995.
The Council provides funding and other support for Philadelphia area organizations that deliver high-quality reproductive and related health services, primarily to low-income individuals and families. The Council also develops, manages and promotes innovative, research-based programs in response to the changing needs of the community.

"Parent Probe" grabs attention with eye-catching tabloid-style graphics and holds parent interest with a matching tongue-in-cheek approach to topics many adults are uncomfortable discussing. Topics include why it is important to talk about values, self-respect, reproductive health, sex, STDs and pregnancy prevention; the dangers of sexting; how the Internet and cell phones have changed teen dating; warning signs that a teen might be in an abusive relationship; and parenting gay teens.
The publication also includes interviews with Philadelphia-area parents and teens who have had "the talk" and a comprehensive guide to websites for teens and their caregivers.

AEP Awards (www.aepweb.org/awards) are recognized nationally by educators, administrators and parents as a mark of outstanding educational content. Entries are evaluated on traits such as efficacy, usability and overall educational value. "Parent Probe" is a finalist in the Sponsored Publication of the Year category. The winners will be announced at the AEP Awards Banquet and Gala on June 8 in Washington, DC.

In the past 15 years, Hollister has been honored by the AEP 52 times, usually vying with national brands such as Scholastic, National Geographic Kids, Sports Illustrated for Kids and the New York Times. The two other finalists in this year's Sponsored Publications category were both created by the Sesame Workshop.
