Damian Rae Winery Wins Gold Medal at World Wine Championships

Judges laud 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon as "Exceptional"

2010-09-14
DANVILLE, CA, September 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) Boutique vintner Damian Rae Winery today announced that its 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the gold medal at the World Wine Championships in Chicago. The tasting was conducted by judges of the Beverage Testing Institute.

"We focus 100% on quality, so naturally we're thrilled with this prestigious honor," said John Tarabini, Damian Rae Winery president. "Wine enthusiasts will savor this amazing handcrafted Napa Valley vintage."

The BTI described the 91-point Damian Rae 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon as follows: "Aromas of toasty chocolate covered fruit cake, creme brulee, and cassis coulis follow through on a rich, satiny entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-full body with truckloads of ripe juicy fruit and seamless texture and balance. Finishes with a long dried blueberry, herb, and açai fade with fine, dusty tannins. A delicious crowd pleaser sipper or pair with spicy Latin beef dishes."

Tasting notes and availability
Barrel-aged in 50% new oak, the Damian Rae 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a sumptuous hand-crafted blend from fruit from Carrefour Vineyard (Coombsville) and Ink Grade Vineyard (Howell Mountain), two of California's premier Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. It first tempts with an outstanding nose - rich and robust with dark fruit aromatics. The taste buds are then met with full-bodied blackberry and black currant flavors, and a hint of tasty oak. Balanced just right, this Cabernet is elegant and sophisticated, with a deep berry color, intense aroma, and a smooth but powerful flavor that finishes flawlessly.

Only 50 cases of the Damian Rae 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon were produced. The wine is value-priced at $59 and is available online at http://www.damianrae.com.
