In the piece written by Mr. Denning on Forbes.com he extensively quoted Dennis' insights his view of how the humanistic approach and values which are critical to leadership transformation in organizations today.
Mr. Rebelo had written a piece for Saybrook University's blog Rethinking Complexity where he discussed Mr. Denning's approach to management and reflected on if it was really so radical or if this principals are more humanistic. Mr. Rebelo compared Steve's approach to management to the principals' of being intimately linked to being human" transforming colder business models of management into worthwhile leadership styles.
Dennis said, I am inspired by the work I am doing at Saybrook University (www.saybrook.edu) reaching audiences through FORBES.com By extending the conversation with respect to leadership development's humanistic roots we can inspirit organizational growth, sustainability and counter the constraining of people's strengths and personal styles which modern management seems to reward. I am honored to have my perspectives, our perspectives reach the international stage. In this story of 'how to lead next' it is the collective wisdom of 'all people' in an organization that will answer the question 'What is it like to be human at work?'
In the article on Forbes.com Mr. Denning goes on to quote Dennis' work in the humanistic approach to leadership. According to Dennis, To be human means to accept, honor and be able to work with ease and grace despite having differences in thoughts and feelings with other people. "Perhaps being human to get a human back is not a radical concept after all. Let's not let it be."
Mr. Rebelo takes this approach to his work not only at University Professional Development Center in Wakefield, RI, but in his work in New York, Austin, Texas, Oxford England, and all the way back around the globe to San Francisco, California. He is delighted to be able to deliver the same content to the people who reside in Southern New England which he delivers to the out-of-area groups. The article in Forbes.com just reaffirms what many of the people whom bring their identity to life inside of leadership chats have know for quite some time that these principals' can come alive in their dialogues.
