Home Stager Helps Client Sell Stagnant Property

Home stager, Holly Battaglia, spruces up a client's home after it spent seven months on the market. The home sold immediately, only one day after staging.

2011-05-11
TORONTO, ON, May 11, 2011 (Press-News.org) Staging Diva Graduate, Holly Battaglia, recently did a home staging consult for a house that had been listed on the market for seven months. Before she was called in, there had been 65 showings and a price drop of $40,000, but zero offers.

The home was vacant and in poor condition with outdated paint colors, damaged molding and mismatched carpets. "The home required more attention than simply adding new furnishings and accessories, so Holly recommended some fresh new paint colors, upgraded carpets and hardware, and lighting updates throughout the entire home. She selected everything that would be brought into the home except for the granite which was chosen before she arrived on the scene," says Debra Gould, founder of the Staging Diva Home Staging Business Training Program.

On the final day of staging, a buyer's agent came through to preview the home for his clients. Before he left, the agent predicted that the home would sell quickly. That evening, he returned with his clients who bought the home the very next day.

Battaglia's success in staging her clients' home is evidence of the power of home staging. Gould explains, "Holly's clients were very grateful as they'd been paying two mortgages for seven months while waiting for the home to sell. Imagine if they had contacted her before dropping their asking price by $40,000!"

In addition to running her home staging business, Holly's Home Matters, Battaglia is a mother of four and works over 20 hours a week as an oncology RN. About the Staging Diva Home Staging Business Training Program, Battaglia says, "The business aspect of the program has helped me achieve my goals by simplifying how I do business. There are tons of resources available! I feel like Debra is a master marketer and hope to learn more from her."
