PARIS, FRANCE, May 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) Paris's Palais Garnier will welcome the Tokyo Ballet for a series of performances in the Japanese Kabuki style.
Running from May 18th to 22nd, the show will provide arts enthusiasts in the French capital with the chance to get to grips with this unusual type of dance-drama.
While traditional plays associated with Kabuki see actors kitted out in elaborate make-up, this ballet adaptation looks set to opt for a simpler colour scheme.
In a statement, the organisers said: "To original music by Toshiro Mayuzumi, the choreographer recounts the age-old legend of the 47 Ronins symbolising the values of loyalty, sacrifice and devotion."
Choreography in the piece has been organised by Maurice Bejart, with sets and costumes by Nuno Corte-Real.
Admission starts from EUR9 (GBP7.80) and goes up to EUR75 for the best seats in the house.
Show times vary depending on the day, with matinees available on May 19th and 20th at 14:30 local time, while evening performances start at either 19:30 or 20:00.
Hotels-Paris.co.uk features a whole host of romantic hotels in Paris that may appeal to ballet fans, including a range of options in the Opera district close to the venue.
To find out more about the performance, visit http://www.operadeparis.fr/ or call the box office on +33 01 5818 6510.
