McMinnville Awards contract to Nexgrid for Commercial and Industrial Smart Grid Infrastructure

LOCUST GROVE, VA, May 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Nexgrid, a leading provider of advanced metering and smart grid infrastructure based on open standards, today announced that it has entered into a contract with McMinnville Electric Systems (MES) to provide smart grid infrastructure to its commercial and industrial customers.

MES has conducted a pilot with Nexgrid over the last six months and decided to begin rolling the solution to its entire commercial/industrial customer base beginning this summer. The rollout will provide a web-based portal to customers to better manage, monitor, and control their power usage and will provide operational improvements and improved billing capabilities for MES. The system will provide real time outage notification, reports on over/under utilization of utility assets, real time reading capabilities, and advanced analytical capabilities for energy usage.
