Mesriani Law Group, one of Los Angeles leading law firms, have successfully secured settlement amounting to nearly $150, 000 for several workers in various employment cases involving race discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, among others.

2010-09-15
LOS ANGELES, CA, September 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) Expert employment and labor attorneys of the Mesriani Law Group, one of Los Angeles leading law firms, have successfully secured settlement amounting to nearly $150, 000 for several workers in various employment cases involving race discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, among others.

One of these cases involved a sales associate for a popular store chain, who was a victim of race discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination.

The employee said he experienced unfair treatment several times while he was still with the company, such as racist comments and insulting remarks, but it became worse when he complained about an injury that he suffered while assisting a client.

Thereafter, he said his supervisor mistreated and harassed him until finally, he was asked to sign his termination paper. The supervisor also threatened to deny him his benefits if he refuses to sign the paper. For fear that he will be denied his benefits; he was forced to sign it. Eventually, he was laid off.

Another case involved an employee who worked as a billing specialist. At the start, he was coerced to defraud the employment agency by intentionally misrepresenting his hourly wage; otherwise he would lose his job.

Thereafter, he experienced several other sorts of racial harassment and unfair treatment including receiving insults and bad comments in relation to his being an African-American. In one instance, he even suffered from a bruise after a fellow employee punched him without any reason.
The victim was also given extra duties when one of his colleagues left the company but despite that, there was no change in his pay or in his standing.

The employee performed not only his work as billing specialist but also the duties of his colleague who resigned. He was often asked to do extra work and sometimes, missed his breaks.
In addition to harassment and unlawful discriminatory acts, he was also denied payment for overtime work. In one occasion, his employer even denied Jackson the chance to attend the burial rites of his grandfather.

After that, the employee suffered from severe stress and mental and physical injuries. He went on disability leave and sought professional medical care.
Fortunately the two aggrieved workers sought the help of the Mesriani Law Group, which immediately worked on the cases.

With the timely and effective representation of the Mesriani Law Group, a successful settlement of their cases was secured. One of the employees in the cases mentioned received $55,000 as settlement from his employer while the other one got $70,000 after mediation on his case.
Mesriani Law Group has again secured compensation for aggrieved workers and made their recovery possible.
