British Coastline Art Exhibition at Red Rag Modern Art Gallery, Bath UK (from Sunday, 19 June 2011).

The British coastline, subject of this exhibition, continues to fascinate and inspire; our island nature seems to draw us to the edge for escape and adventure, for contemplation, and to satisfy the longing to connect with the wild and unfathomable.

2011-05-19
BATH, ENGLAND, May 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) The show will reflect the variation of the British coastline - sometimes remote and wild, sometimes epic, expansive and grand, sometimes rugged, sometimes charming and intimate, sometimes full of action and excitement and redolent with history - as well as the changing moods, colour, texture, light and atmosphere encountered where land, sea and sky meet.

The show will present inspiring works by established and emerging contemporary artists of the British landscape, coast and sea - including Colin Carruthers, Malcolm Cheape1, Chris Daynes1, Elaine Fine, Judy Hempstead, Amanda Hoskin, Tina Morgan, George Muir, James Orr, Donald Provan1, Malcolm Teasdale, Helen Turner1, Nicola Wakeling, Gary Walton, Ben Warner1 and Robina Yasmin.

Red Rag Gallery Manager, Carine Besse, commenting on the forthcoming exhibition, said, "As we approach summer we are delighted to be showing so many talented contemporary artists in this ensemble exhibition about the British coastline. This is a captivating show that reminds us so vividly not only of the wonderful variety of the coast, bringing forth our own memories of summer holidays, sand, sea and shore; but its continuing inspiration to life and art."

1 These artists are showing with Red Rag (Bath) for the first time.
