GRANADA HILLS, CA, May 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Nene Leakes may be out...but the real housewives of Macy's are now in.
Fresh from their meeting with Macy's executives in New York City, entrepreneurs Lake Kelley and Mariah Huq of Jewel and Jem Multicultural Bedding and Decor introduced their lifestyle bedding line to the retail giant at the inaugural Workshop at Macy's held May 9th-13th.
From attending business development classes to meeting with celebrity entrepreneurs Russell Simmons, Damon Johns of FUBU, and Lisa Price of Carol's Daughter, the five day workshop prepares potential vendors to do business with Macy's and help them succeed on a larger scale. Selected from over 12,000 companies, Jewel and Jem was just one of 21 female and minority-owned retail businesses chosen to participate in the vendor development program.
Designer and CEO Lake Kelley is thrilled at the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious program. "Their commitment to diversity and inclusion is unparalleled," Kelley said. "Mariah and I are so grateful to have experienced the Magic of the Workshop at Macy's. We look forward to their partnership, and will remain forever customers of Macy's."
Highlighting companies with strong operational potential and innovative products, Macy's goal is to find and nurture talented, high-potential vendors that will keep them at the forefront of retail innovation and diversity.
Bringing the hottest, freshest looks into the home, the luxury bedding line has been turning heads since its debut. Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks recently chose to use Jem and Jewel to decorate son Ayden's bedroom, featuring the decor in an episode of the hit reality show.
