MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, May 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Fraser's Hill International Bird Race is set to take place in Pahang on Saturday June 25th and Sunday June 26th.
People familiar with the Malaysian mountain resort may be aware of its reputation as a birdwatcher's paradise, with roughly 250 wild species living in the vicinity.
The annual bird race, which is now in its 24th year, gives enthusiasts a chance to compete against each other by spotting and correctly identifying as many birds as they can.
People entering the competition this year will be placed into one of three categories: advanced, novice or local.
The former category is designed for experienced birdwatchers with prior knowledge of Fraser's Hill, while the novice section is for those who view it more as a casual hobby.
Residents who live nearby are permitted to enter the local category, as they know the whereabouts of many of the birds and will encounter them on a daily basis.
In past versions of the event, prizes handed out to the winners have included binoculars, digital cameras and books about rare birds.
Birdwatchers planning a visit to Malaysia hotels will find a wide range of accommodation at AsiaRooms.com, including the First World Hotel.
One of the largest hotels in the world by room count, it is part of the Genting Highlands resort and is located close to a number of special attractions.
