LONDON, ENGLAND, May 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) Cosworth Group has applied its expertise in high performance engineering to develop a real-time monitoring system to assist turbine operators in making effective decisions to maximise output and profits.
Cosworth Output Maximisation System (OMS) is a novel solution for wind turbines that combines comprehensive capture and logging of control and environmental data with Cosworth's innovative torsional vibration sensing, neural network and predictive analysis capabilities.
The result is a unique and high-quality approach to data logging and reporting that enables more insightful analysis and decision making supported by intelligent neural network technology that anticipates problems before they occur.
Cosworth energy programme manager Andrew Warr said the application of this technology was aimed at getting the most out of a wind turbine by ensuring it was running at its maximum capability.
"By capturing this data, wind turbine operators can find the perfect balance between maximising output and profit, while ensuring the life of the turbine isn't compromised." Warr said.
The Cosworth Group was founded in 1958. With headquarters in Northampton, UK, the company currently deploys 350 staff across the Europe, US and India. CEO of the group is Tim Routsis since 2003.
The Cosworth Group provides high performance technologies to a diverse range of global industries including aerospace, defence, automotive, marine, motorsport and energy generation. Cosworth has many world-renowned customers including Aston Martin Lagonda, Textron Systems, Rolls-Royce, the Ministry of Defence, the United States Navy and develops high performance electronics and engineering for Formula One teams. The Cosworth Group leverages its unique combination of advanced technologies, engineering expertise and globally recognised brand to deliver performance solutions.
