New York SPORTIMES Announce Promotional Dates For July World TeamTennis Schedule

Two "Mom's Nights Out," celebrations, Queens Night, and Johnny Mac Tennis Project Night will highlight Special Events at N.Y. SPORTIMES matches this July

NEW YORK, NY, May 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) The New York SPORTIMES today announced the promotional events for their five-date home World TeamTennis schedule this July at SPORTIME Randall's Island Tennis Center in Manhattan, including two "Mom's Nights Out," along with a special evening spotlighting the Johnny Mac Tennis Project and Queens night, with special deals for residents of that borough. SPORTIMES Marquee Players John McEnroe, Martina Hingis and Kim Clijsters will compete in several matches for the SPORTIMES, while visiting teams' stars will include Jimmy Connors and Lindsay Davenport in this "Season of #1's."

Opening Night on July 6 is also "Queens Night," in which anyone who lives in a Queens, N.Y., zip code can get 1/2 price tickets, while supplies last, in honor of the borough where all three of the SPORTIME stars earned fame as US Open champions. The matchup vs. the Boston Lobsters will also highlight Junior TeamTennis through the USTA Eastern section, with special discounts available to members.

Then on July 11, former #1 and Mom Lindsay Davenport comes to town with the St. Louis Aces, it's "Mom's Night Out I," with themed promotions, giveaways and a special Q&A during one of the breaks in the action with Davenport about her life as a tennis pro and mother.

The focus turns to kids on July 14, when "Johnny Mac Tennis Project Night," which provides scholarships, coaching, transportation and other financial assistance to qualified young tennis players in the greater New York area. McEnroe takes on longtime rival Connors in a feature match against the Philadelphia Freedoms.

July 20 is "Mom's Night Out II," with Kim Clijsters the lead mom as well as lead player when the SPORTIMES battle Washington.

All Randall's Island matches begin at 7 p.m. The SPORTIMES also have a home match at Sportime vs. Springfield on July 15 featuring McEnroe and Hingis, and two home dates at SEFCU Arena in Albany on July 18 and 19, which begin at 7:30 p.m.


"These special promotions are a fun way to highlight the fun, family-friendly atmosphere that the SPORTIMES and World TeamTennis are about," said John Dato, general manager.

In addition to the Marquee players, the SPORTIMES welcome back veteran players Jesse Witten and Robert Kendrick and the newest addition to the team, Katie O'Brien of Great Britain, who will make her WTT debut this July when the SPORTIMES defend their Eastern Conference Championship under first-year Head Coach Fritz Buehning.
