LateRooms.com.au - Watch AdYO 10th Anniversary Gala Concert at Adelaide Town Hall

The celebratory performance will take place on June 26th.

2011-06-04
ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, June 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) Adelaide Youth Orchestra (AdYO) will mark its tenth anniversary with a celebratory performance at the South Australia capital's town hall later this month.

The ensemble's first ever concert - an interpretation of Ottorino Respighi's Pines of Rome - came at the same venue back in November 2001.

Since then, AdYO has taken part in 15 shows per year - predominantly across the Adelaide area - that have attracted audiences of almost 40,000 people.

Comprising some of the state's most talented eight to 25-year-olds, the group has produced a number of graduates that have gone on to win international acclaim.

Some of the orchestra's most successful alumni, including star cellist Pei Sian Ng, are returning for the anniversary celebration to play Variations on a Rococo Theme by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky.

Famous works from the likes of Johann Strauss II, Carl Vine and Aram Ilyich Khachaturian are also on the bill.

The concert is set to take place at Adelaide Town Hall on June 26th 2011, with the performance kicking off at 15:00 local time.

Tickets cost AU$25 for adults, AU$20 for concessions and AU$10 for students, while families can get in for AU$60.
