The DIM factor used to be 166 for international shipments. As of a few months ago, air freight carriers decided to lower the DIM factor, which in actuality causes a rate increase." "So, we needed to be more innovative about how we package our members' goods and take extra time and effort to reduce a packages shipping size when possible."

Lone further explains, "DIM weight is the space a package takes up in a transport vehicle, rather than the package's actual weight. I don't want to make it sound complicated but the bottom line is that the recent changes in how we calculate dimensional weight can cause a significant increase in pricing for some of our members, depending on the size and weight of their packages."
