EAST SUSSEX, ENGLAND, June 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) To honour World Environment Day on 5th June, the UK's largest IT graduate employer, FDM Group, has donated a collection of PCs to the inspiring charity Computers 4 Africa.
Since its establishment over 20 years ago, FDM has expanded considerably and was recently awarded the title of the 11th fastest growing company in Europe.
FDM is committed to bridging the gap between University and employment for graduates seeking to work within the field, hence the company's continuous investment in new IT systems and technologies for its training Academies.
Therefore computers, which are over 3 years old, become redundant and although FDM has previously distributed unwanted computers externally, this is the first time the firm has supported Computers 4 Africa.
The charity makes a difference to the lives of African people by shipping unwanted computers out to schools, colleges, libraries, clinics and specific projects out to the continent.
The donation process ensures that computers can be disposed of in a cost effective way that will benefit those in need.
One of the fundamental advantages to the donation scheme is also its environmental impact.
When it comes to computers, reusing is certainly the best form of recycling as the electronic items are made up of valuable resources, which require energy to mine and manufacture.
Salvaging these products therefore conserves natural resources and avoids air and water pollution, as well as greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by manufacturing new products.
Computers 4 Africa relies on the donations of individuals, schools and companies such as FDM and is extremely pleased with the contribution the IT firm has made to the charity's efforts.
Business Liaison Manager at Computers 4 Africa, Sue Boxall, said "Computers 4 Africa are delighted with the newly formed relationship with FDM and look forward to working in partnership with the company in the future."
