VENTNOR, NJ, June 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) Bob Fowler and Stephen Branca have been playing and writing music together for over 30 years. In the early 80s they made quite a name for themselves writing tunes and performing locally. In 1990 they signed their first recording deal with Silver Wave Records, an independent label out of Boulder, Colorado. Over a four-year period, the duo released three internationally distributed CDs with Silver Wave.
Their first CD, "The Face on Cydonia", received extensive national airplay and was in the Top 10 on many new adult contemporary radio charts. Music from "TFOC" was also used on cable network TV shows like "Life Styles of the Rich and Famous" and "The Weather Channel". Their second CD, "Etched In Stone" moved quickly to the top of the charts and was selected for Grammy Nomination consideration. By the time Fowler and Branca's third CD, "Three Flights Up", was released, their music could be heard on over 350 stations in the USA with medium to heavy rotation - including over a dozen "The Wave" Network Stations (noted for inspiring the Smooth Jazz trend) in California alone.
In 1995 Silver Wave made a decision that challenged the future of Fowler and Branca, when they changed their focus to Native American Music. Bob and Steve were disappointed by the change. It could have marked the end of their song-writing career, but they continued to write and completed their fourth CD "Real Nice Ride", another exceptional example of their unique songwriting style. They also contracted to write for top music libraries, where their music is currently distributed internationally for use in motion pictures, documentaries, Network TV Shows such as "20/20", and TV and radio commercials.
It's June 2011 and Fowler and Branca are back... with a winner!
Their newest CD "If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Ride" proves what their fans and critics alike have always thought. These are two musicians/songwriters who are operating on a higher musical and creative level. "If Wishes Were Horses..." offers a bit more "edge" and "smooth jazz" vibe than their previous CDs, and draws inspiration from a diverse resource of musical influences.
One thing is clear, Bob Fowler and Steve Branca are not just great musicians; they are also extremely talented songwriters. Bob plays fretted and fretless bass, guitar, keyboards and handles engineering and drum programming. Steve plays acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, and keyboards, and is the graphic designer of their CD packaging and website: www.fowlerandbranca.com. Bob and Steve play most of the instruments on their tracks, but are occasionally joined by some incredibly talented musician friends. They write, record and master all their music at Bob's studio, SSR Recording in Smithville, NJ - a state of the art multi-track facility armed with an impressive arsenal of software, sound samples, instruments and vintage microphones.
"If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Ride" was almost 2 years in the making, and for fans of Fowler and Branca, it is well worth the wait. But, for the legions of new fans that will soon find them, their latest album is a glimpse at two of the most talented and gifted people in the music industry.
Demonstrating their world-wide appeal, a recent glowing review on a popular European Smooth Jazz website "Smooth and Soul" (http://www.smooth-jazz.de/index.htm) stated, "If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Ride is without doubt Bob Fowler's and Steve Branca's tuneful monument shining over all musical genre."
