PHUKET, THAILAND, June 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) The WATOC is an international organisation representing computational and theoretical chemists. This event is the main international event in the field of computational chemistry. The World Congress of the WATOC attracts representatives from industry, academia, and government alike. The event has a great history of widespread support with the last congress attracting a record 838 participants from 40 countries around the world.

The 2011 WATOC World Congress will focus on cutting-edge developments in theoretical and computational physics, material sciences, and chemistry. The event will showcase how these developments can be applied to such diverse fields as nanotechnology, material design, biotechnology, and condensed-matter physics, as well as material and chemical engineering.

More specifically, the event will cover structures, reactivity, ion chemistry, condensed matter, heterogeneous catalysis, biological chemistry, enzyme catalysis, drug design, proteins, bioinformatics, hydrogen bonds, Van der Waals complexes, halogen bonds, and NMR properties.

As in previous years, the format of this year's World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists (WATOC) World Congress will include presentations by invited lectures, poster presentations, plenary lectures, and contributor lectures. There will be numerous poster prizes awarded.

There are many hotels in Santiago de Compostela where attendees will be able to find accommodation, but it is recommended to book early.
