PathGuide's Latitude VMI Helps Distributors Offer Speedy Customer Service, Lower Costs and Warehouse Efficiency Improvements

E.B. Horsman deploys PathGuide's VMI to efficiently manage customer inventory replenishment levels and better control internal costs

2010-09-16
SEATTLE, WA, September 16, 2010 (Press-News.org) PathGuide Technologies (www.pathguide.com), a leading provider of warehouse management systems (WMS) for industrial and retail distributors, today announced the deployment of its new vendor managed inventory (VMI) solution to help distributors efficiently manage the inventory replenishment levels of their customers. The new Latitude VMI product is one of the first in the industry to offer inventory notifications via email, along with automated customer ordering through docking, remote WiFi and VPN.

Because the Latitude VMI is already in use by distributors such as British Columbia-based E.B. Horsman & Son to tightly control inventory fulfillment, its benefits and implementation strategies will be showcased in a break out session at PathGuide's Latitude User Conference 2010, being held in San Diego October 3-5.

"Cost control, order accuracy and warehouse efficiency are always at the top of our hit list," noted Roy Bragg, vice president of operations at E.B. Horsman & Son. "And the fact that PathGuide's Latitude VMI solution allows us to address these issues while improving the service and responsiveness we can offer customers makes it a no-brainer. We were particularly impressed with PathGuide's willingness to help us customize the solution to support VMI-via-email through an RF terminal, which dramatically simplifies deployment. We expect the investment to pay for itself in short order."

E.B. Horsman & Son is leveraging Latitude VMI's email capability to not only speed penetration into its customer base, but to allow real-time confirmation or correction on specific orders. In addition to communicating orders by email, PathGuide's Latitude VMI supports traditional RF handheld connections through a docking cradle or wired/wireless network for simplified deployment at the customer site. For example, as stock is depleted, quick barcode scans create new just-in-time orders to be automatically generated and communicated back to the warehouse, where they can be confirmed and processed immediately. This facilitates better inventory and cost control, along with improved accuracy and the assurance that products are never out of stock.

The new VMI offering is part of PathGuide's Latitude Warehouse Management System, a modular software suite that automates warehousing and distribution to provide real-time online information about all inventories. It automates all operations from receiving and order picking, to manifesting and truck route/stop management. Latitude integrates seamlessly with major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business systems from such companies as Activant, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft and Infor.
