The Surrogacy Lawyer Radio Show "Complementary Infertility Therapies Moving Mainstream"
On June 9, Theresa Erickson will interview Susan Cooke, Circle + Bloom, and Mike Berkley, The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness and Women's Health.
SAN DIEGO, CA, June 09, 2011
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been helping women get pregnant for several thousand years, which is far longer than high-tech, 'advanced' western reproductive medicine has been practiced. Mind-body and guided imagery visualization techniques have been used for many years to help people with cancer, high blood pressure and back pain and their therapeutic benefits also can directly assist those with reproductive disorders. These approaches do not negate the need for traditional infertility treatment, but rather complement it.On the next episode of The Surrogacy Lawyer: Your Guide to IVF and Third Party Family Building, Theresa Erickson, Esq., will be exploring these topics with two leading practitioners of complementary health methods: Susan Cooke, co-CEO of Circle + Bloom, and Mike Berkley, acupuncturist and director of The Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness and Women's Health in New York City. The show will air on Thursday, June 9 at 11AM PST/2PM EST on Voice America. It is the second in a multi-part series on various alternative, non-traditional ways to resolving infertility.
Susan Cooke is the co-CEO of Circle + Bloom, a company that creates doctor recommended mind+body programs for women's health, including fertility and pregnancy. Susan has held leadership positions at various organizations including Sapient Inc, and Harvard University. She joined her sister, Joanne Verkuilen, the founder of Circle + Bloom over two years ago to help run its daily operations. Susan is also a board member of Resolve of New England. Mike Berkley, L.Ac., FABORM, is the first acupuncturist in the United States to specialize in the care and treatment of infertility, a population he has been treating for 13 years. Mike is respected by reproductive endocrinologists, gynecologists and acupuncturists throughout the world and has lectured extensively to these professionals. He is a member and is certified by the American Board of Oriental Medicine as well as the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He has an extensive knowledge of acupuncture, herbal medicine and Western reproductive medicine.
"Today's guests will demonstrate how their respective expertise in acupuncture, herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, guided imagery, visualization and other techniques can successfully be integrated into western infertility treatment and reproductive medicine," says attorney Erickson. "Working with each other and with many well-known reproductive endocrinologists, they are forging new paths to helping patients achieve long-sought dreams of a healthy, successful pregnancies as well as to feel better about themselves in the process."
