Lawrence Pumps Selects Certeon for WAN Optimization Deployment at 25 Percent Lower TCO than Other Leading Vendors

Lawrence Pumps Selects Certeon for WAN Optimization Deployment at 25 Percent Lower TCO than Other Leading Vendors

2011-06-09
BURLINGTON, MA, June 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) New data creation within global enterprises will increase at rates of more than 60 percent per year (IDC, 2010) for the remainder of this decade, yet over 90 percent of organizations' employees have to use latency hampered WAN links for accessing this new centralized data. Lawrence Pumps Inc., an industrial pump manufacturing leader for critical industrial services, recognized this user productivity challenge and selected Certeon's software WAN optimization product, aCelera, to give the organizations' employees the ability to access their data as if it were on their desktops. aCelera is the linchpin solution for Lawrence Pumps' growing data access issue.

Lawrence Pumps is using Certeon's aCelera software to replace a hardware WAN optimization product from Citrix because Certeon is 25 percent less expensive and provides superior performance as a software solution. Also, Lawrence Pumps is licensing Certeon aCelera using an OpEx-budget based model, freeing them from traditional WAN optimization vendor pricing approaches that require large upfront CapEx expenditures associated with a perpetual license model.

"When it came time to open a new office in India, we started exploring other WAN Optimization options and found that Certeon's solution was 25 percent less than the cost of the Citrix Branch Repeater," said Celine Moulton, Information Systems Manager, Lawrence Pumps Inc. "The flexible licensing model and competitive price point were key factors in our decision to switch WAN optimization providers. Since then, the benefit our company has seen from Certeon has given us tremendous confidence in their solution. Our users have reported significant performance improvements for Windows File Shares."

Lawrence Pumps' infrastructure design required a WAN acceleration solution that was able to run as software in a virtualized infrastructure and was hardware independent. With aCelera, Lawrence Pumps now has the flexibility to deploy WAN Optimization on whatever infrastructure platform is available, easily upgrade equipment at standard refresh cycle times, and transfer licenses as needed. aCelera software also speeds Lawrence Pumps' time to deploying the acceleration solution and avoiding the time and cost of shipping multiple pieces of hardware to and from global remote locations.

"The ease of deployment was a great incentive for us to switch to Certeon's solution," continued Moulton. "Not only were we able to get aCelera fully up and running in each of our office locations in a matter of minutes, but the ability to manage and upgrade the entire infrastructure through a single software interface changes the game for us. aCelera's flexibility as a software-only WAN optimization solution gives us the freedom to easily expand our services by simply deploying a virtual appliance."

"More and more companies are breaking the shackles imposed by hardware appliance solutions as they experience firsthand that aCelera provides better performance and can be cost-effectively deployed to all branch offices," said Peter Dougherty, CEO and co-founder of Certeon. "Our flexible licensing model combined with aCelera software centralized management functionality has eliminated deployment time and cost challenges for companies like Lawrence Pumps, aligning their IT infrastructure with their corporate strategy and budget requirements. This combination of a licensing model that can be flexible enough to adjust to the corporate budget requirements and support all hypervisors offers organizations the opportunity to employ their IT infrastructure as a competitive advantage built from the inside out."

Certeon's aCelera is the industry's only software WAN optimization product that can be deployed cost effectively to any number of branch offices anywhere in the world to accelerate applications and information access across any network.
