PENTICTON, BC, June 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) In a joint venture, Doug Oucharek of Cadent Computing Inc. and bestselling author, Stephen Joyce, have introduced a solution to the emerging cloud-data security issue. In response to the recent breaches of file sharing security highlighted in the media, their software addresses a critical gap in the area of personal cloud data encryption.
As Stephen Joyce shared, "To function we have to share data with others via the cloud. The cloud is not going away. What we need is a security system that the average person can use on their own data. theLocBox was specifically designed to put control of data security into the hands of the user, where it belongs."
He went on to say "theLocBox represents an "interface to existing cloud technologies. It adds a stronger layer of security. In other words, we are an 'add-on' to existing cloud systems such as Dropbox. theLocBox encrypts files copied into the cloud so they are protected from a breach in security."
Recent issues with cloud computing have been brought to light in the media and have emphasized transfer and storage encryption as a necessary enhancement to cloud data sharing and storage. "This is a wake-up call for cloud computing," said Matthew Eastwood, an analyst for the research firm IDC, using the term for accessing services and information in big data centers remotely over the Internet from anywhere, as if the services were in a cloud. "It will force a conversation in the industry." (credit: NYT).
As Doug Oucharek notes, "Online file sharing and storage is the way of the future, there's no question. It gives individuals and smaller companies an opportunity to focus on their business without having the added strain and costs of maintaining their own IT needs. But in order to do this effectively, they need to be able to do it with confidence in the cloud technology they've chosen. They need to know their data is protected - that's why we created theLocBox."
