As part of the Real Estate category, Brookfield Homes is among nine nominees for Best New Home Builder. For more than 50 years, Brookfield has been building quality homes. With five new home neighborhoods represented in four of the communities nominated, Brookfield Homes is dominating this year's competition for Best New Home Community.

The nominees are:

• Rockrose at The Foothills in Carlsbad

The Foothills spans 157 acres and introduces Brookfield's first eco-savvy new home neighborhood, Rockrose. Just across the street from The Foothills and already under construction is the site of a future Carlsbad high school. Another proposed future amenity is a new 13.5-acre community park, planned as a lighted, multi-field soccer complex. Nearly half of the property of The Foothills new homes in Carlsbad will be preserved as permanent open space, providing a key connection to the habitat management program for the community of Carlsbad.

• Mahogany at Old Creek Ranch in San Marcos

Featuring view homes backing to open space, Mahogany offers incredible value, with one of the lowest cost-per-square-foot new home prices in the Carlsbad/San Marcos area. Mahogany offers single-story and two-story floor plans with downstairs master bedrooms, bonus rooms, lofts and more. The San Marcos new homes span approximately 2,412 to 3,875 square feet and have three to five bedrooms and three to 4.5 baths.

• Serenity at StoneBridge Estates near Scripps Ranch

Serenity at Stonebridge Estates view homes range from 4,040 to 4,759 square feet and have five bedrooms, 4.5 baths and three- or four-car garages. Home sites set amid rolling terrain and surrounded by acres of open space range from 11,234 to 26,705 square feet. Three distinct floor plans are offered featuring Spanish, Italian and Craftsman architectural styles. The single-family homes offer a wide range of lifestyle options, such as a home office, a private retreat, morning room and more. Ladies' vanities are included in every home.
