Anniversary Waltz: New Jack Vettriano Limited Edition Prints from Red Rag Gallery

Red Rag Gallery has added a new, limited edition, fine art print, Anniversary Waltz by popular artist Jack Vettriano, to its growing print portfolio.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND, June 15, 2011

Anniversary Waltz is typically enigmatic and mysterious: a formally dressed man and woman dance a waltz on the promenade to music from a gramophone placed on the path. It is the characters that are the focus - presented in an apparently incongruous situation, the story behind the dance untold, the viewer is invited into the scene to imagine or speculate.

The original oil painting is currently being exhibited in London, transferring to the Royal West of England Academy for a short period in July and August.

The print image (40 x 32cm/ 16 x 13ins) is available from Red Rag Gallery as a fine art, Giclee print from a limited edition of 250, signed and numbered by the artist himself; and is available unmounted, mounted or framed.

Red Rag Gallery holds a selection of limited edition prints by Jack Vettriano, including romantically themed images such as Days of Wine and Roses, Only the Deepest Red II and Man of Mystery; portraits such as Portrait in Black and Pearl and Beautiful Dreamer; and the Sir Terence Conran commissioned series commemorating Sir Malcolm Campbell - Birth of a Dream, Bluebird at Bonneville and Pendine Beach.

Biographical note:
Born in Fife, Scotland in 1951, Jack Vettriano left school at sixteen to become a mining engineer. For his twenty-first birthday, a girlfriend gave him a set of watercolour paints and, from then on, he spent much of his spare time teaching himself to paint. In 1989, he submitted two paintings to the Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition; both were accepted and sold on the first day. The following year, an equally enthusiastic reaction greeted the three paintings he entered for the prestigious Summer Exhibition at London's Royal Academy.
Over the last twenty years, interest in Jack's work has grown consistently; and there have been sell-out solo exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong and New York. He was awarded an OBE for Services to the Visual Arts in 2004 and in the same year was the subject of a documentary for the South Bank Show ('Jack Vettriano: The People's Painter'). Since 2007, he has been focusing on a variety of private projects, including a portrait of Zara Phillips as part of a charity fund-raising project for Sport Relief (a documentary on this experience was broadcast on BBC1 in March 2008). Jack divides his time between his homes in Fife, London and Nice.

The original Jack Vettriano painting, Anniversary Waltz, oil on canvas (24 x 20 ins), features in the Ballroom Spy exhibition at Heartbreak, 17 Bulstrode Street, London until 19 June and transfers to the Royal West of England Academy, Queens Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 1PX from 01 - 31 August 2011.
