RIC Construction Awards Storage Systems Contract To Southern California Spacesaver Dealer For New Chino Police Facility

McMurray Stern selected to provide new facility with state-of-the-art storage systems for evidence, weapons and police gear

2011-06-16
LOS ANGELES, CA, June 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) McMurray Stern is proud to announce that they have received a contract from RIC Construction to provide storage systems for the new Chino Police Department facility. Work on the new police station is expected to begin this year with a completion date of June 2012.

Once constructed, the new property and evidence room will be equipped with pass-thru evidence lockers for short-term evidence storage, high density mobile storage systems for long-term evidence storage and specialty freezers and refrigerators for storage of biological evidence.

The men's and women's locker rooms will be equipped with 250 specialized duty lockers for storage of officers' gear. Specifically designed for the needs of police officers, these lockers are equipped with integrated bench drawers for storage of boots and body armor as well as a power supply for charging cell phones, radios and laptops. The new facility will also be equipped with "Go Bag" lockers to provide officers with storage and quick access of specialized gear needed during a quick deployment.

"We worked closely with Leach Mounce Architects on this project," says Randy Hacker, Senior Design Consultant at McMurray Stern. "We also worked with them on the California State University, Northridge Public Safety Facility. They know our experience and trust we will get the project done on time, and on budget."

The city's new, 102,000 square foot police station will occupy the former Home Depot on Walnut Avenue. The station will include a firing range and secure parking for police vehicles. Officials said the existing police station wouldn't have been able to meet the needs of a growing community in the next decade.
