MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, June 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) Homegrown, interstate and overseas acts are set to wow audiences when the 2011 Melbourne Cabaret Festival takes place next month.
Now in its second year, the event is held across seven venues and offers a quick-fire approach to entertainment, with new shows starting every 15 minutes from 18:15 local time onwards.
The festival will run at the Emerald Hill arts and cultural precinct in South Melbourne from Tuesday July 19th to Sunday July 24th.
More than 100 performers in 36 productions will grace the stage throughout the event, with the acts ranging from comedy and vaudeville to dark and edgy.
Among the highlights is Blokelahoma! starring Australian Institute of Music graduate Toby Francis, who is set to perform a set that includes classic show tunes and more contemporary numbers.
Based at the Butterfly Club on Bank Street, the show will be held on Wednesday July 20th and Thursday July 21st. Tickets cost AU$33 for adults and AU$30 for concessions.
Other pieces to look out for include Gillian Cosgriff's Waitressing and Other Things I Do Well, also running at the Butterfly Club from Friday July 22nd to Sunday July 24th.
Admission costs AU$33, with the show kicking off at 19:00 each night.
