MUNICH, GERMANY, June 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) Online merchants who process credit card transactions now have a new line of protection against credit card fraud. Bin2Country.com is now offering BIN services to help make the Internet a safer place to do business. BIN services allow merchants to run a check on the credit cards to make sure that the numbers match the country and the IP address of where the orders are coming from.
The website comes with several features that online merchants can use to protect their businesses. On the home page, there is a place to enter the first six digits of a credit card and check the card issuing country and IP address. Merchants can search up to 20 times per day. This online demo is free, or they can buy one of the two packages the company offers.
BIN2Country.com CEO Freidrich Linz says, "The Internet is a dangerous place to do business these days, and we feel that it is extremely important to help online merchants protect themselves. Our global economy depends on them, so we need to do everything we can to help them keep their businesses up and running."
The two packages offered by BIN2Country include an online package and an offline package. The offline package includes a database that matches BIN to country and also IP to country so that merchants can verify that the credit card country matches the IP address of the country of the person who is ordering from them.
The online package includes all the features and files of the offline package, plus a personal API key to perform remote XML lookups. The key is alphanumeric and allows merchants to perform up to 20,000 lookups in the next year.
The API works very simply, allowing merchants to send a request via XML code. A template for the XML request is included on the company's website. It includes the merchant's personal API code and also the BIN they want to look up. After sending the command, an XML output comes back, allowing merchants to either read it in a browser or have their IT personnel automate it on their end. Merchants can check both BIN to country and BIN to IP matches via the API system.
"By making BIN lookup and credit card verification into a remote service, we tackle the problem so many online merchants have," BIN2Country.com CEO FRIEDRICH LINZ says. "Today's way of doing business globally requires online merchants to be constantly aware of every single financial transaction, and our services help them do exactly that."
All customers will receive updates by email three times per year automatically. The files are completely updated so that merchants do not have to spend time figuring out what has changed or combining the old and new files. Every time these updates are sent out, the unique API key usage counter will be reset, allowing merchants to use the same key once again.
