ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ, June 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) This year's winner of the Full Figure Fashion Week Award for Best Plus Commercial Print Model of the Year is the HOT Brazilian model Fluvia Lacerda. Fluvia will be honored for her contribution in breaking down the barriers of a thin-obsessed culture on Saturday June 18th at Full Figured Fashion Week Awards when she receives her award. The awards show will be taking place at The Marriott Marquis Hotel New York City in Times Square at 7pm. The Red Carpet event starts at 6:00pm, expect to see Fluvia there in full glam.
"The fact that I won this award is a major deal and I'm very passionate about my work, mostly because I feel that I represent the body image of many women," says Lacerda. "I'm not only a healthy woman, but one who wears a size 18 and am confident about it."
As late as last year, mainstream fashion argued the legitimacy of plus-sized fashion in the industry.
