DUBAI, June 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) The American Hospital Dubai has announced the appointment of a new dermatology consultant, Dr Syed Amjad Ali Shah. Dr Shah, a British national, is a UK (Medical Royal Colleges) registered dermatologist and joins the hospital from the UK where he was Consultant Dermatologist/Lead at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. He undertook his medical training in Pakistan and the UK, and held senior positions across the UK and Ireland. Dr Shah has also undertaken research and published several medical papers on the treatment of a variety of dermatological conditions.

Dr Syed Amjad Ali Shah is fully trained in dermatology and cutaneous surgery and has a special interest in lasers and new treatments for skin infections and inflammatory skin diseases. Through his career, he has been actively involved in the diagnosis and treatment of skin TB, leprosy, STDs, and other skin diseases, as well as skin allergy testing, cosmetic surgery and pediatric dermatology. He has also been deeply involved in the management of patients with acute and chronic dermatological problems, including skin cancers.

Commenting on the appointment, American Hospital Dubai CEO Mr Thomas Murray, said: "We are delighted to welcome Dr Shah to the physician team at the American Hospital Dubai. Dr Shah is a member of several learned societies including the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh; the British Association of Dermatologists; the British Society of Dermatological Surgery; the European Society of Cosmetic Dermatology. He is one of only a few Dermatologists from the UK with these qualifications.
