MILWAUKEE, WI, June 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) Milwaukee, Wisconsin has coined the nickname, the "City of Festivals," hosting numerous fairs and ethnically themed festivals. It has been home to the annual Festa Italiana, which celebrates Italy's culture and heritage. Commemorating their 34th annual festival, the Italian Community sponsors this four day event. The entertainment includes performances by Hollywood and local rising stars, demonstrations by top chefs, and local eating contests. Appearances include cooking sensation Nick Stellino and Buddy Valastro from TLC's Cake Boss. Making her first appearance at Festa Italiana is award winning Italian chef and bestselling author of The Basic Art of Italian Cooking, Maria Liberati.
She will be showcasing her culinary skills and demonstrating recipes from her latest Award Winning book The Basic Art of Italian Cooking: Holidays & Special Occasions throughout the event. The book was selected for the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Award in Paris last year.
As a former international supermodel, besides her culinary training, Maria brings a dash of her own style to her recipes and books. She is considered one of the foremost experts in Italian cuisine, wine, and culture and has shared her knowledge of simple, artisan cooking with the world. Using only fresh and natural foods similar to those found at her family's vineyard in central Italy, Maria Liberati has created healthy, yet simple recipes which produce an authentic Italian taste.
Held at the Henry Maier Festival Park on the lakefront in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Festa Italiana will feature live music, entertainment, and delicious food. Maria Liberati will be performing at the Cucina Showcase Thursday, July 21 until Sunday, July 24. The times will vary and are posted at the bottom of the page.
