SAN DIEGO, CA, June 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) In a report in Business Review USA, Dr. Carroll Thomas, Superintendant of Beaumont Independent School District speaks on the district's reputation in the community and how its expansions will affect students in future generations.
Beaumont Independent School District is the largest educational operation in the region and has recently finished the construction of three new schools last year, with seven new schools to open by the end of the year. The average student-teacher ratio is 18 students per teacher, making for a hands-on learning experience. The district's administration per student and teachers ratio is also among the leanest in the state. Student attendance is also a priority and the school district's average is among the highest throughout the state of Texas hovering over 95 percent.
"Our math program is taking off here," Dr. Thomas says. "Unlike traditional math equations, we're teaching kids how to reason with math, since it can be a trying subject for some students. We're bringing in real world examples to learn how to use reasoning to get answers to math." Dr. Thomas also says that they're developing self-paced programs for kids and taking on web-based approaches to teach students within the district.
