Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Paris Hosts Academism in Music

Academism in Music sees three special concerts taking place in Paris this autumn.

2010-09-18
PARIS, FRANCE, September 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) A series of concerts being performed at Paris's Musee d'Orsay will look into the topic of Academism in Music, which could prove to be enjoyable and interesting for enthusiasts of classical compositions.

The shows will take place every Thursday between October 14th and November 4th 2010 in the auditorium (level two) of the celebrated French museum.

Guests at Paris hotels who choose to attend one of the concerts will have the chance to listen to classical pieces from the likes of Brahms, Reger and Mendelssohn.

"How is academism expressed in music? This question is explored through the example of academic compositions, such as the famous cantatas of the Prix de Rome and it is also evoked through works which are more difficult to evaluate," explained the organisers.

Maitrise of Radio France will play on October 14th at 20:00 local time, Lyon Choir and Soloists on October 21st at 20:30 and finally a concert featuring Natalia Gutman on the cello and Elisso Virsaladze on piano will take place on November 4th.

The second of these three concerts will be preceded by a talk about Academism in Music by Cecile Raynaud.

Ticket prices vary depending on which musicians people want to see.

Among the other musical events happening at the arts space are a series of lunchtime concerts of chamber music, featuring a combination of emerging and established performers.

For more information on this event visit the Musee d'Orsay website or contact the venue on +33 (0)1 40 49 48 14.
