HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL, September 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) American InterContinental University (AIU), a leading provider of career-focused education, is proud to announce G.I. Jobs Magazine has included AIU among its 2011 Guide to Top Military Friendly Schools. The guide will be available in print and online at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com in September.
This annual guide includes the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to support military students. Schools were surveyed on the services and accommodations available to military students such as discounts on tuition, policy for service members called to active duty and distance learning options.
"We work diligently to ensure our military students have the support they need to succeed at AIU," said Richard Kennedy, director of military relations. "As a veteran myself, I'm personally and professionally honored that AIU has received this distinction for our continuing efforts to serve those who have bravely served our country."
AIU provides a number of services and benefits to its military students, which comprise approximately 30 percent of the student population including active duty, veterans and military-related family. Staff members in departments such as financial aid and student services are trained to identify and work with the unique concerns or questions faced by military-related students. Military students who attend AIU Online can interact with one another in the award-winning Virtual Campus through the Military Students club--which currently has more than 2,000 members.
AIU also assists military students by offering grants and participating in federal funding programs. The AIU Freedom Grant provides eligible military service members and their eligible immediate family a tuition grant ranging from 10 to 20 percent, depending on the level of study. The AIU Veterans Grant is available for all honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. military and their immediate family members. AIU is also a proud participant in the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program.
