NEW YORK, NY September 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) Rosamaria Caballero, founder of New York-based Green Irene LLC, was honored at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's (CHCI) Public Policy Conference in Washington D.C. this week. At the closing plenary session titled "Green Economy, Leading the Way", Caballero's work was recognized during the Latino Innovation awards ceremony.
"It was a tremendous honor to be recognized at a conference attended by 22 members of Congress and six Cabinet secretaries," said Caballero. First Lady Michelle Obama spoke at the conference.
Caballero was cited for her work "as a model of Latina leadership, entrepreneurship and small business success and serves as an inspiration to women and Hispanics to launch their own local businesses."
Caballero was one of 17 honorees nationwide by the CHCI including Salazar Packaging, El Puente Green Light District and La Causa. Caballero was nominated by Latina Style Magazine and Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, author of Latinnovating: Green American Jobs and the Latinos Creating Them.
